Drove a GMC DuraMax w/Allison

I remember someone a while back talking about a compact or agreement that many (all) states had signed about acceptance of other states licenses and registrations. I am pretty sure that is what it was???

I need to find info on this; I was ticketed in Il for driving a truck in excess of 4 tons, in Texas it is/was registered for 4 ton any help? Also if anyone has a picture of a must weigh sign or aything of that nature that says the actual GVW required to scale ( I think this is common out west, CO NM) could you send it to me. Eric. Kelcher@ccsracing. us They are bending me over pretty hard and I am not liking it, I had all the proper FMCSA numbers log books with me I think it kinda miffed him.

italics were added some how I erased that part

I believe you're referring to the Driver License Compact, but if you're running commercial, that's a whole different sandbox!

Rusty

No registered at the proper weight 4 ton truck gross 25,500

Speed limit sign said Speed limt 65 then 100 yards past it was this sign

speed limit trucks over 4 tons campers motor homes trailers 55

I was exactly 4 ton truck so 65 mile speed limit. All other times I have been to Il I have been in a 20 ton truck so 55 it was.

I believe the sign to be incorrectly labeled; tons refer to carrying capacity, a listing of weight refers to actual pounds ie 1 ton Dodge has a nominal carrying capacity of one ton 2,000 pounds(depends on accersiories) but gross is 9,900-11,000 and can be registered even higher (I have seen some in the 30k+ range)

66. 14

ticket itself is not bad ($75) and I would just pay it but they are hitting me with over 10 in a commericial motor vehicle that part is where it gets expensive for insurance and points against my license with possible suspension of license.

Does anyone have a link to the driver's license compact I have searched and I keep geting DMW websites and wading through them is a nightmare.

What is the ticket? You were driving a truck that weighed more than 8000 lbs and you are registered for less?

You dodged the question, how much did the truck actually weigh when you were ticketed? And that old out of date 1 ton duelly thing means nothing these days. Stock from the dealer my truck weighed 6800 lbs. With my aux tank full of fuel and all the hitches and "stuff" I normally carry my "1 ton duelly" weighs a little over 8000 lbs and I'm still allowed another 2500 lbs before I hit my GVWR. Bite the bullet, I think you are going to lose this battle.

Get stopped in Rock Island county by chance? They can be real a-holes. They love lining their pockets.

If your truck's tag is for up to 8k, I would suggest plates good for 12k, since the trailer puts weight on the truck. Personally, I think they should add the tags together. No matter where it sits.

The cops pretty much allow you to run 65, but if you get stopped for something, I would plan on getting a ticket for speeding, since 55 is the posted limit, for anything over 4 tons.

Out west... as you drive through CA the signs at the scales say no Pick-ups so I don't go in... . in OR its any truck over 16,000 lbs..... WA is 20,000 and ID is 26,000... . these are commerical trucks... . any combination where the total weight is over the amounts stated... . As I drove into Canada this trip. . BC is 5500 KG... 12,100 lbs. . and Alberta is 4500 KG... . 9,900 lbs... and that means any truck... ""read"" heavy PU's pulls in...

Today my truck (04, 3500 dually, 185K miles) and trailer weight 33,000 lbs... had to scale as I crossed into BC from ID and had to pick up a permit... . I travel the western states, (OR, ID, CA, AZ, UT, NV, WA) and don't bother... my truck and trailer looks like some old farm rig... but I don't speed... . when it say's trucks... . 55 I don't exceed 60... . based on the GPS... . When it says 60 I don't go over 65 and don't exceed 75 in AZ, UT, ID, NV where the limit is 75... I just don't do a thing to draw the attention of those guys..... a traffic stop always takes away an hour... . plus the cost of the ticket... .

When I have been stopped... I have the log book... flares, and all the stuff to keep me legal.....

I've learned this... driving during the day with my day time running lights are ON... . get stopped for a head lamp that is out..... they weren't needed but it was out. . so he stopped me to tell me... checked my licence, and reg, insurance..... than decided to do a safety check... . an hour later. . I'm on the road... no warning, no ticket, just a verbal not to run at night with the head lamp out..... so now I do the walk around every time I stop... . and if a light is out. . the lights stay off during the day.....

Just my nickels worth... .

Just my 2 cents worth...

A guy I'm currently running containers with has a buddy thats a CHP/DOT . Says in Cali. as long as it has a tailgate, it is a pick up, read the signs at scales... . so we been blowing by the one in Cajon even when a white Camaro is along side us, doesn't even bat an eye at us, even with 8' hanging off my trailer. I did make up a nifty little lite bar to hang on the back of the box to keep them away also.
