We come down south almost every year for this, sometimes the same areas year after year. I personally would never live here, too hot and humid. At this point it might be time to move out of Hurricane Alley. At the very least elevate new residential construction on to piers.
Dealer can’t get it in until next Monday
We asked if they could sneak the truck in, they said no and no one is allowed to stay late cause they can’t pay overtime. They said their customers who keep coming back are first priority. It is what it is.Other than blinking their lights a few times... is there not a higher priority for essential workers and their tools trucks etc. to get worked on? Or they already clogged up with high priority stuff like this? I would rather have my lights back on than my truck back sooner from the dealer. After all it's expensive by the hour to be on generator power.
Nope, it said there are no codes to clear. It sure seems like it’s in progress. It’s in high idle, coolant temp is at 215 and the exhaust coming out the pipe would melt the skin off your hand.Do you have a CEL? If there are codes other than the dpf full it may not allow a regen.

I’ve been doing this for a little over 21 years now and pretty much nothing surprises me anymore. Common sense is a thing of the past. Most homeowners(most) are very good to us. There are those that as soon as their power is on, they want you off their property and become very rude. Businesses, they just want their power on and don’t want to see you again. Depending on who you ask, I’m a pretty easy going guy, till I’m not. I’ve intentionally left one house without power all day on purpose while the rest of the neighborhood had power. Done that to businesses too.You are too modest. Hopefully you get this truck going without further trouble.
The next problem you run into that requires a dealer I suggest:
Call the 800 number for FCA out of the owner's manual. Ask them to help you get the truck in and worked on ASAP. Dealers are independent, but, a phone call from FCA asking them to step up to the plate can make a difference.
The "no overtime" is the dealer's BS. Warranty may not pay OT but they can make a shop rate for OT for non-warranty. Plumbers will show up at midnight for lots of Cold Hard Cash. You know the OT you are putting in so sorry to rub salt in...
I called the manufacturer number for an unrelated problem (Adding High Idle function/software to a gas engine the factory order left off). I got a call back after they "looked into it" to go to a different dealership for what we needed done. They had the service manager on the phone at the same time. Turns out the dealership does modified police vehicles vs. the parts changers at other dealers in the area. It. Got. Done.
A big sign in the window of a truck near the dealership "I need this broken down truck running to turn YOUR power back on!" would go viral.
I know full well how busy places are as I have to make an appointment one week out for a simple oil change at the dealer. Good luck getting someone in service to answer the phone or a returned voicemail. GM or RAM. However getting the lights back on I thank you for and would gladly wait on my stuff longer. Esp. because it costs me $3.00 an hour in fuel alone to run a backup genset. Others with bigger sets use more fuel, but, it adds up kinda quick.
View attachment 130647 Is this normal? When I hit start, the truck idles up and about 30 seconds in I get this message. It says failed at the bottom, but says stationary desoot: active above.
Yes it did, on all the trucks. One of them we had to do the DPF reset and then it worked.Did the truck continue in idle up mode for a while? Forgot exactly how long it takes but it was at least 40+ minutes at high idle. And believe me, you can tell it's regening, the Exhaust will be super heated coming out. Like melt the hair off you legs hot if you pass by it.
As mentioned, it will not regen with any kind of code. I had an issue with a regen code that wouldn't clear and it would not start. Ended up doing a DPF reset to get it to clear and work
.
Sometimes, not all the time. Are these being idled with the high idle on? Like sitting at 1200 RPM not related to cold. I run mine at idle a lot for A/C use and wonder if I am going to have the same problems.
