It's fine, I've been running an Ez with DD2's for a year and my lift pump is just lying down now. To be safe you could install a gauge. (IMO) I don't think you need to worry about it, only if you are adding major fuel.

Boxes don't blow pumps. The pumps, whether you're talking about lift pumps, or injection pumps (you didn't say which) have manufacturing defects that are sometimes brought out sooner by the increased duty cycle the boxes put into effect.

Welcome to club '99 model, I just put a new VP44 injection pump on mine Saturday. If you are under the 100k warranty still you have it made, your EZ box shouldn't void your warranty, unlike mine, because I'm running the PE COMP with the pump wire hooked up; $1200 X-mas present I guess.

So far, so good....

I have about 7K miles on the engine mods listed below. Changed the lift pump out about 4K miles ago as a preventive maintenance thing. Haven't seen less than 5 psi at the exit of the fuel filter. Got my fingers crossed ;) Merry Christmas!

Depends if you asking about the VP44 or the Lift Pump... Your VP44 should be okay, as long as it gets a minimum amout of fuel pressure to it at all times. The weak point is the lift pump. There have been many cases of it failing. Especially if your adding HP BOMBs to you stock truck... Best thing to do is get a fuel pressure gauge installed, so you can tell when it's going bad!!;)

Hope mine lasts a while

I have 55K miles on my truck and just BOMBED it with Western Diesel Module (pretty sure it's a re-packaged EZ), a guage set (but not fuel pressure), and 4" exhaust.

WOW! Goes like heck up the hills and runs 29 lb of boost but only 1,100 on the EGT with 9,000 lb in tow.

I hope it doesn't accelerate my lift pumps demise.

Guys, I'm pretty sure Bill is asking about the injector pump. I don't think he'd be worried about a ($125) lift pump. The injector pump is the spendy one and is the one that may go out with the use of a box. As for the answer... I don't know. The posts that I have read and from my personal experience, it's the high power boxes that usually cause a injector pump, like mine, to go out. Mine went out on my second run with the box on the highest setting. I had it replaced at Cummins and haven't had any problems since. It's been a year and a half. I don't think that the edge ez has enough power to take out a pump, but I said "think" not "know"... . I'm not sure, it's just my opinion based on what I have read. If the pump has missed the deburring process, like mine obviously did it will eventually go out. By adding a box, especially a high power box it just speeds up the process. I don't know what to say, you could have a good pump, or it could be bad, lets hope it's good.

I've been reading about this problem a lot lately. I have a question. Is it definitely from more fuel going through a non-deburred pump? Or is the lift pump not keeping up with the injector pump (pulling more fuel) and therefore burning up the injector pump due to lack of lubrication?

Thanks,

Dave.
