Hey Gang!

My truck is getting increasingly quiet as I eliminate annoying noises (getrag, transfer case lever buzz, clutch disk rattle, etc. )

Both of our '92 W250 w/ the standard, non-tilt steering columns have an internal rattle. Mine was bad when I bought my truck but went away when I swapped to an aftermarket Grant wheel. The other truck still has the OEM steering wheel and rattles worse than my truck. My truck is now rattling again and still has the aftermarker wheel installed.

Also my truck is still running the OEM steering shaft & the girl's ride has the awesome Borgeson Steering Shaft.

This isn't a consistant RATTLE, but sometimes varies w/ temperature.

ANY IDEAS FROM MY WISE FIRST GEN FRIENDS?

Thanks... . KEENO :)

Hey Keeno,

I had a rattle in my column at idle. It was due to the turn signal/ high beam controls rattling on the left side of the steering column. I put some 2-sided sticky foam on the steering column behind the dash. It can't be seen, it supports the controls so that they don't rattle, and it doesn't affect their operation. That was my rattle and solution.

Thanks Matt!

I'll look into integrating your fix...

This rattle can also be 'felt' through the column while driving and the steering wheel has a small amount of in/out play.

Thanks!

KEENO

Your rattle sounds like a more serious problem that what I described. That may take some investigating with a steering wheel puller.
