MPG

My truck is a daily driver. I run the highway mostly. Getting 18 to 20 if I keep my foot out of it. I also have my box on and set to 2 x 3.

Edit. Drove 400 miles this weekend used 17 gals. Was nice drivin' a empty truck for a change. 23. 5 mpg. Edge Comp set to 2 X 3. Went to Canon City via I-70, Breckenridge, Fairplay, Selida, Royal Gorge and I-25 thru Colorado Spring on the way home. Hill or dale 18-20 mpg. Passes everything even a gas station.

I used my highway unloaded mileage in my vote. Somewhat over 18mpg. My 'round town/foothill driving empty drops to around 15. 5-16. Standard output (originally) automatic.

Hard to really say!

Gents:

My 2000 2500 4X4 QC LB 3. 54s got around 17 MPG and weighed 8860 lbs, my 2002 3500 4X4 QC 4. 10s gets around 15. I do drive the 3500 a little more aggressively.

My truck spends 95% of the time unloaded on the freeway between 70 and 75 mph. 21 to 22 is normal for my truck if I don't drive like a jackass.

Well....

Argh! Are HO "17'ers" the lost generation or what? :) Mine pulls seventeen something normally. Sometimes it will creep into the low 18's, but mostly seventeen something. Mostly highway miles at 60 to 65 with a little city type driving. 3. 55 LSD rear axle and non-disconnect front axle.

I voted the truck "15 to 17", but no category is quite correct for my rig. Guess I'm going to have to be a real American and start suing the crap outta people until things are a little more fair around here. :)

The Wife normally gets a little over 21 mpg driving it back and forth to work. We don't do a lot of in town driving. I usually get 18. 17 if I'm enjoying the drive. LOL

I'm mostly stop and go with a 35 mile commute each way and get low 18s. Best mileage was 23. 6 on a trip at 65 mph max - made me crazy driving that slow.

When my truck was bone stock, I got 16. 0 MPG, highway, streets, towing, not towing, empty, whatever... That was the first 12K miles. When I added DD3's and an EZ (upgraded to a Comp), I now get anywhere from 17. 5 to 19. 2 MPG. Kent Kaiser and I live up near Placerville, CA in the Sierra foothills, and we drive up and down the mountains a lot for work. I get about 17. 5 - 18 MPG in my daily driving, and better when I am on long trips on relatively flat ground.

I Get 18-20 some times average 21. 5 on a long haul empty. I have an 02/HO with 3. 54s and usually drive the speed limit. with the 20' Haulmark in tow I get 14.

I voted based on highway mileage (over 20mpg), the last tank was a lot of around town having fun kind of driving and I still got 18. 8 mpg!

On the freeway at steady speeds I'm always getting high 20 to low 22 mpg figures. The motor is just now starting to loosen up so I'm hoping the mileage will stay the same.

Be sure that you use the Pencil Method and not the computer... You know how those darn thing lie!! And they REALLY lie if you a re BOMBED...

Just to make us feel better, I have a friend that has a 1995 Dodge V-10 and he gets about 7 in town and 12 on the road. He has :{ WHOPPING :{ 300 Crankshaft HP and 450 lbs of torque. I bet the guys that have CTD's with 1000 lbs torque don't burn that much fuel!!!

I've always done the math when computing mileage. My 2002 Maxima has a trip computer in it and it's off by 4mpg!

I have gotten an average of 20+ miles per gallon over the 32,000 miles on my truck. As you can see by my signature that I have a std cab and 2wd so I cannot compare to the extended cab 4wd trucks. Also, when I am on the four lane roads I tend to drive in the 70-80 mph range. I feel that I am lucky to have a good mileage truck as it seems that some aren't as lucky:(

Also, as an addition, I have not towed anything for a year and a half, but have had the bed loaded slightly a lot of the time.

Ditto! I've read that some members have seen mileage drop by 3 or 4 mpg for no apparent reason after 30 or 40 thousand miles. I'm sure hoping my truck continues to be good to me over the years. I'm getting 18 to 22 mpg and drive it like a sports car around town.
