As I write this, the local audio shop is installing a JL Audio Stealth 12" Subwoofer which will replace the front center seat in my Ram. The setup as advertised looks awesome and uses the existing upholstery (in my case leather) to cover the box to keep it looking just like the original factory seat. Of course it will no longer be used to sit on. I have to say "bye bye" to the drink holder located for the rear passengers, but I really didn't care about that. They will also relocate the drivers side seatbelt sensor. Here's a link to the JLAudio site with the Sub. Check it out... .

It's a little pricey -- I paid $459, plus I had to purchase an amplifier to drive the sub.

If anyone is interested in how this baby turns out, just let me know and I'll post an update for ya... .

Installation complete!

The installation of the stealth subwoofer is complete and I must say that I am VERY impressed with the fit. You can not tell that the center seat has been replaced. It looks completely stock. The 12" JL Audio subwoofer sounds great inside the cab. Even my wife likes it (whew!). You can still sit on the seat, but it sure isn't very comfortable - only about a half inch of pad over the sub box. If anyone is interested in a photo of the finished product, just let me know. I've never posted pic here before, but I'll give it a shot if there is a strong interest.

In summary... . if anyone is looking at adding a subwoofer to your Ram, I highly recommend the stealth box by JL Audio. You won't be disappointed.

For those of you in my area (Newport News, VA) - Discount Audio Sound took really good care of me. The staff there were knowledgable and really cared about getting my system the way I wanted.

Next install is a Viper Security system with remote start..... anyone installed one yet? If so, what's the scoop?? good? bad??

I'm interested in your stealt sub-box, but only if the pics will be w/ the upholstery off... . I've seen a regular leather seat before :D ;)

I was thinking about buying one, but already have my own 12" sub I want to use, so only need the box. Have a friend at school who will build me one for cost of materials and 2 cases of beer, but won't look quite like the molded one you got...

six in one hand, half-a-dozen in the other

Snowracer69,

Good point there! If I posted a pic, it will look exactly like a stock seat. I must have had a blonde moment there! If you want a cut out type pic, just follow the link in my original post.

Josh, dont kid yourself. That thing is tuned specially for that enclosure. I could not use one, because I run 1000 watts RMS to my 12's, but they kick ass if you only have a couple of hundred!!

Heard two of them, one with only 60 watts going to it. They sound grrrrreat! It is not a rap machine to be felt 400 yards away (the cummins is for that anyway, right?lol), but really adds to the music.

Make sure you measure your volume and tune the thing right if you build one! It makes all the difference in the world.

Mine's been hammerin' with a Fosgate punch 600 drivin' it for two years now and still it slams! I used Boston Accustic Pro 6. 5 components all arround and the standard alpine din and a half to supply te tunage. I am VERY impressed with the sub! The setup I have crated WOWs even the guys with dual 10" subs. The truck as a whole sounds incredible and as an amazingly precise soundstage pretty much wherever you may be in the cab. Ditto on Tuning! I dynamatted the whole truck so thats prolly why I am seeing such fantastic performmance. Enjoy!

I use a Clifford G4 with autostart. Great system and you can manipulate the system with a laptop and coffee. Many parameters can be changed with a click of the mouse. Duration , senitivity and even siren sounds. For the diesel options you can wire up the exhaust brake when temps are met, The autostart is VERY diesel friendly and clifford is bar none in terms of security. The viper is great for the autostart and does a great job on "protecion" however ditch the cheezy 7 tone siren and find maybe one from alpine , clifford , or higher end viper.
