A friend of mine has a 97 12 valve and well the other day it got a little hot on the coolant temp. He pulled over and let it cool. checked the coolant,it was full. It has not gotten hot since however, the coolant level seems to be dropping slowly. And the crankcase vent tube has a constant flow of what looks like steam coming from it. Also it leaves little gel blobs on the ground that look like white grease. We find no oil in water or water in oil. The truck performs as it always has. We suspect the head gasket has/is failing but are not convinced enough to r&r at this time. Any one ever see this happen? thank you in advance.

Yes I just done one that was loseing water and it was dribbleing into the tappet area from what looks like casting flaws what I did was block off all the coolent holes and made a plate that blocked the inlet and put an air chuck on it and pressureized it to 30 lbs thats how I found mine. But yours is probably the hd gskt.
