Question is how does a lil' red caboose keep from being crushed by a mighty Y under full throttle :eek:
 
Scott whatever became of that one N&W Y locomotive that was used for excursions in the past, that got parked when the 611 did? What ever became of the 611?
 
There is more information about the Norfolk & Western Rwy locomotives on the web than you could ever hope to view in this lifetime. Search for "the" 611 and/or 1218



To my knowledge, there is NO "Y" class locomotives in existence. There are two Big steamers there on display @ the transportation museum in Roanoke and other various locomotives. One pretty good sized loco just arrived in my home town from a salvage yard in Roanoke. I don't know the model no. (letter) It was a switcher.



The locomotives are moved time to time for various events in Roanoke but not under their own power.
