steering arm

I just installed the borgesen shaft on my truck. It drives nice and straight. But I still don't have the steering response that I want. Then I noticed the steering arm that runs from the steering box arm to the front axle is worn. It is about an inch round and about two foot long. the ball joint moves a half an inch until it starts to move the tires. I tried to tighten the castle nut, but it is already tight. I'm sure I'll have to get another steering arm because the joint is not replaceble. Is there any options or is this just a part I get from mopar.

Hey Troutdog.

I bought a new one from Pep Boys made by TRW (good stuff) for $70. 00. I had it on for a week and replaced it with an adjustable unit (from Skyjacker, $170. 00).

For $35. 00 (Ground UPS to lower 48 included) the TRW unit is yours.

ALL Dodge 4X4's (Ramcharger, 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, 1 ton pck-ups gas or diesel) from '78-'93 use this same part.

I would be a little afraid to drive it much with that much play.

While you are at it, check the tie rod ends for play as well. I found mine to be real loose and had to replace them.
