OK - my truck has several inches of play in the wheel - I mean you can put your hands on 10 & 2 and move the wheel quit a bit before anything happens. Everything is tight on the front end except I think the box..... My front end giuy told me that the adjustment nut on the box can be turned about 1/2 a turn and that may fix it - but he cautioned that this is a one-way deal - once to tight - it can't be undone... ... .

1. Now - is this correct?

2. What does a new box cost???????

I don't know if he was correct about it being a one way deal, but here's how. Here are some prices. Nice looking units, too.

I personally never had any luck trying to adjust a steering box. Probably because I wore 'em past any resonable adjustment. I will say, though that the PSC box is a nice piece. I put one in my 1500 after the original puked the seal due to a worn pitman bearing.

I have adjusted them, and it is not a one way deal, but if it is bad enough to have to do that, you'd be better off buying a new one, cuz after you adjust it, it won't last much more than another 50k or so miles, if that.

As bad as you say yours is, you may be better off buyingnew.

I'd have him try it. The worst case, you have to buy a new box. at the least, it will give ya time to save up for the new box.

been quite happy with my PSC steering box (and it tightened up the steering even more, despite the fact that was already tight)

:)

i've heard good things about them from the offroad community, but have not yet used them myself. the next time i need a box rebuilt, i'll be sending it to them.

that's where I had my TJ box rebuilt and I'm quite pleased with the results :)

Even got a tour of the facility with an explanation what they did to make the stock box stronger :D
