I think it depends a lot on valving, newness? All I know is that mine is now a lot easier to turn and more precise. Much nicer to drive. So whatever Atsco has for the 31/4 boxes worked well for me. . Maybe mine was just old and worn out, but I still like the ratio difference.

Update

Today I had a Powersteering Services box and pump installed in my truck. Didn't make much difference in steering tightness and now the truck pulls to the right severely. Feels like the pull is coming from the steering box. Still cannot turn the wheels without the truck moving. Once again I spent a bunch of money on the front end (last time it was a DSS and upgraded track bar) and the truck still drives like a herd of drunk billy goats. The truck does not chop or wear tires unevenly so I doubt alignment is a major contributor to the problem. I hope the rest of you are having a great day!!!

I did not mean to knock PSS's pump and box (I know it came across that way). I was just extremely frustrated with the driveability of the truck yestereday after having it professionaly installed. Today I put 500 miles on the truck and got most of the air out of the system. Now the truck drives like it should. Apparently the 100 miles I put on it yesterday was not enough. The fault of this problem was not the steering box or the pump, but more of a installation issue. I would reccommend PSS's box and pump to anyone.

I'm puttin' a PSC Gear on tomorrow on the '97 in the sig. The PSC higher volume pump made a big difference. No fighting the wheel even on severely washboarded roads (the kind that its either 5 or 50 mph). I don't see how the gear could improve things much except that it will cure the seal leak.

We'll see how things go. I'm hauling eight horses and 6 hunters elk hunting in the afternoon.

I feel your pain.
I too have a "keep'r btween the ditches" truck, very aggravating. To the point that driving is fatiguing, especially in highway traffic, it requires constant adjustment.
I have to ask, how are your tires, air pressure, front springs and shocks?
Another possible improvement is 'Rock Solid' Ram Truck Steering !

The PSC gear was an improvement. It tightened things up the last bit. Hauling the horses over a nasty potholed road was easy as far as steering goes.

I too got tired of sawing the wheel back and forth,i went with a psc 3 turn and there brace. They say there is a life time warrenty on the box when the brace is used with it. Big differnce. Also put the new style track bar on and it steers better than any new trucks i have driven. The old track bar was worn right out and i didnt relize it because the truck never tried to death wobble.

I installed a PSC box about a year ago and it made a huge difference. Much nicer to drive and tracked better on the road. Less effort at the wheel. I recently installed a PSC pump and am a little disappointed. I will be calling PSC about it though. In my experience they will make it right. I also run there steering, hydro ram and HD box on my Jeep offroader. Just my 2 cents. I also run a DSS box brace and Thuren trac bar.

look at tires especialy less that 10 p. r. or load range E to be a big culprit for Death wobble. just took some cheap 8plys off for 10 ply toyos and day and night as they say
