Has any one had the steering box split? Mine did at 6214 Miles. Now I am on the rental car bit and it Pi$$es me off to drive these darn things this is the third time since I bought my truck. The sad thing is that the rental car company gives me the same car and it is like my second vehicle.

by split do you mean literally split in the case or just leaks? I have a 98. 5 that is leaking and am not quite sure what to do on it.

No This i sthe tird time my Dodge left me stranded. This time I was just posting for a word of caution cause I was towing a load of hay and then all HE!! broke loose. It was not like not having power steering it took almost two full turns to keep it between the lines so I could shut it down in the median.

Just thought that you al would appreciate the thought of someone thinking of others safety

I don't want to see anyone hurt or injured

The two front bolts on my steering gear cover plate were loose, found them when I was searching for the source of the leak. Tightened them down, but too late to save the gasket... the leak is much, much slower now, almost unnoticeable, so maybe the gear and pump will last me a few thousand miles more. Worst part is, it's a 2001, happened after my warranty expired... .

Building up my own warranty fund right now, in a savings account. :D All these cheap Dodge'em parts surrounding that mighty Cummins engine...
