i was wondering if there is a home brew option to fix it cheaply by cutting the old coupler to get the splined part? thanks AP

I thought about doing the same thing, then priced new parts at the dealer. For about $30 I bought all the parts, coupler, shoes, spring, seal, cap, and pins. I installed everything and packed it full of grease. The seal and cap suck! :p I'm going to try a bike inner tube on the shaft with hose clamps. Try to keep it clean and dry. I have 10,000 miles on it now,but it rarely goes out in the winter. Good luck.

Not really a kit, they were individual pieces. I'm sure I don't have the reciept any more,it was 4 years ago,but I will look.

yes they have a service kit for it if you can find them the old dealership i worked at had a whole box full of them some one messed up and ordered 100 instead of 10.

Im also thinkin gof doing the dorgeson shaft too, but I need to reseal and adjust my steering gear.

Looked hi and low, couldn't find it,sorry AP. :( I gotta start keeping these things again so i can help you guys. P

Ahhhh... hey guys... . ------->>>> "..... Sticky: Post Here If You have Info Or "Work Arounds" On Discontinued Parts/Sources ... . "<<-------

If you find the part number(s) then stick them in on this thread ok...

TDR agreed to set up this Forum for the above purpose so let's try to stick to the concept...

Having said that, I'll leave this in here for a day or two then move it to the regular forum.

Now... I have heard from more than one or two folks that you can do the "replacement parts idea, but, this will only take you another year or so and then you're at it again.

I know not everyone has a budget for accessories, especially those that do NOT contribute to more smoke/heat/boost/HP but... the Borgeson is a good option. I am very happy with mine.

Also, DC has a kit for the stub shaft seal AND the pitman arm if they are leaking.

Do a search for those topics in the 1st Gen forum and I think you'll find the part numbers I posted... . either that or they are actually in this forum or one of the 'stickies'.

pb... . :D
