Can anyone explain to me how to get my old steering dampener off without removing the linkage? I've tried using a pickle fork; I've heated the tie rod up; I've tried penetrating oil with and with out heat; I've beat on the shaft. There must be a tool on the market that is used to press it off, but I don't know where to purchase one. I would appreciate any helpful suggestions.

#@$%!

Careful... when they do go, they go P-O-P

and the puller tends to go the other way very fast. . almost got me in the head. . heh

good luck

Wail the side of the link with a hammer where the rod goes in the hole. The part that bulges out. This causes the tapered hole to break it's grip on the tapered shaft. Often the shaft will pop out when you hit the side. It compresses the hole and ejects the shaft. Seen it done, It works.

Mine must be different on my truck. It just has a clamp with u bolts that attaches to the tie rod from the mount on the axle.

Contact Carli for pricing. It's more than the Kore setup but you get a major skid plate and two stabilizers.

I borrowed a snap on gear puller that has a tensioner arm attached to both grippers and was finally able to remove the dampener. Thx...
