Somebody sent me a private message asking about the gasket for the side plate on top of the steering gear box, the part that was leaking due to the two front bolts being loose. Well, I lost the private message, didn't get a chance to reply... my sincere apologies... please email me at -- email address removed --
And guess what... it's still leaking. More leaks in this truck than a Cuban rowboat one mile offshore from Miami
To answer your question, it doesn't look like an easy job. My service manual shows a number of steps you got to go through, including removal of the entire unit from the truck, then a procedure to center the steering gear inside the unit, then the pitman shaft comes out along with the cover !!!! Don't have a service manual? Get one ! It's paid for itself many times over, these past 2 months.
