Someone posted that they had there steering fixed by Holbrook Specialties in Oregon. I called them up and ordered the joint that they install. It is a PTO shaft joint and it works better than any other I have seen. The diameter of the shaft the goes to our steering box is 3/4" and the spline count on the box is something like 32 spline(thats not right so don't go by that). He takes the 3/4 end and the splined end puts them together and presto a superdupper fix for the factory piece. The splined end of course just slips right on and the other end slides over the shaft and is then welded on. The factory has already built compression and expansion into the steering colum (look at the spring that is on the outside of the shaft near the firewall). It provides plenty of movement to get the joint on and off. Best of all it uses a large U-joint that is greaseable and replaceable. This is by far the cheapest and best solution to the POS the factory uses. If anyone is interested call Ed at 503-655-4747. He charged $85 shipped to my door. No I do not have part numbers call Ed. Installation took about 1hr start to finish. Did I mention that my truck drives new... . NO... ... Better than new. !!:D :D :D :D :D

Thanks a ton!!

My joint has failed again and I was hoping for this kind of fix. .

Thanks for digging this up for us.

How is this fix different from the Borgenson steering shaft? I can see that it is $$120 less in price. Anything else different? I just replaced mine with a Borgenson, but I have some friends that will need this fix, maybe I'll turn them on to this company. Thanks in advanced

Its more heavy duty. IMO Installation is easier also because you don't have to take apart the rag joint. If the U-joint goes out you can to any auto parts place and get a new one. And you save $120... . Again this is just my opinion I am sure that the borgeson is a very nice unit. Tell me how to post a pic and I will get one on here. Thanx, Dan
