So, RELUCTANTLY, i drove in to the local dealership with the 06 model today to get on the waiting list for replacement parts. The newest recall notice I received about 4 weeks ago.
I start to hand him the letter, he says no waiting list and they have the parts in stock. Then he tells me they have been told NOT to install them and there is going to be YET ANOTHER recall issued and it will have different part numbers.
Im not sure he knows what the crap hes talking about, usually the TDR knows about this stuff long before the dealers...( this dealer anyway) Hope one of you guys thats in the know can chime in..

Called 2 weeks ago to get my truck scheduled for this recall.
Was told by the service manager that they had just received notice that day that the replacement parts had to be "re-engineered" so this recall (N-62) is being updated and a new recall will be forthcoming once the "new/revised" parts are in the system/released.
Moral of the story...call first. :)

My service director indicated some sort of dimensionsal issue on the N62 recall steering parts, soooooooooo there IS in fact a recall on the recall, as well as a wait for the newly revised linkage to come out AGAIN.

This explains why my parts, due in mid February, aren't there yet in mid March...

Hope I don't have a failure while towing. little over 8,000 miles and 95% of that is towing 15,000 lbs.

Wow, well that explains alot then... The service advisor told me not to worry, if it breaks its under warranty.
I asked if it would also cover the price of the truck along with whatever I ran into.
Think maybe I need to leave well enough alone and just not worry about it, apparently mother mopar cant seem to make up their mind.

I'm still towing and hauling all my normal stuff. The reports about this are all happening in parking lots at low speeds (at least what I've heard on here). I haven't heard of one breaking on the interstate yet?

They tend to break during sharp turns like you would make in a parking lot.

There is a recall on my 09 also. When I called to make an appointment, the Service Manager said the recall had been recalled. LOL

Just got off the phone to the Chrysler Recall Assistance Center. The N62 recall has been recalled! It seem the parts they have been using are also defective....NEW replacement tie rod ball studs will be sent to dealers beginning April 14!!! This place is being run like an Italian car company. I'm thinking 'class action suit'.

Nope NOT Italian! More like GM. Won't be able to pursue a class action if you wanted to.....all the lawyers will be feeding off GM!

FYI--the failure supposedly happens from a poor install of the oem tie rod linkages, NOT necessarily bad castings or design...
as long as BOTH tie rod ends are installed and tightened down parallel with the ground AND aligned WITH each other, then AFAIK, there is no danger of them breaking or popping.

The recall and updated linkage is meant to PREVENT the tre's from being installed anyway but in exact alignment with each other by using a pin that the DS tre has to silde onto to maintain correct alignemnt with the PS tre... NOT a bad idea, but also not crucial with proper installation of the orginal linkage.

All that being said, I HAVE read about a half dozen stories on differnet forums about trucks fracturing the DS TRE while turning at low speeds.

I know a lot of folks driving dodges and don't know anyone that's had a failure. I, like a lot of others, have read about it on the net but have yet to see it. My dealer claims they haven't had any broken ones show up. We have plenty of trucks up here that get beat on and no problems. I understand this is a steering component and also a safety issue but I question how necessary it is for all trucks.

Don't make right turns----LEFT only. Go around the block to go right!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AS long as we aint making left turns on the same road as that Austin Dillon IDIOT thats driving the #3 car in Nascar... That kid has ran over everything but the finish line!
