I finally had an opening in my schedule to drop by the dealer for the inspection. My 2009 truck needs the fix. This will get rid of the existing "clamped on" steering stabalizer mount and will have a direct mount for the steering stabalizer.
I was put "on the list", probably a couple months out.
Maybe I will change out the ball joints beforehand since an alignment is included in the recall. The last inspection by the dealer said they were "getting close".

The linkage requiring the updated TREs is the type that uses the clamped on steering stabilizer mount, and that does not change. The older design which attaches the damper directly through a hole in the linkage is the Pre-2008.5 linkage which is not recalled - it has smaller diameter links and is known as the Haltenberger design. Update part CBUEN491AB covers the left & right tie rods with adjuster hardware, and CBUEN492AA includes 4 nuts. From what I learned talking with a parts department today, this updates all existing linkages (recalled recall - at least for my N62 recall). Even the full linkage kit #52122362AJ is superceded to 52122362AL (which is used to update pre-2008.5 linkages to the newer one), was not showing up in the national database as available anywhere yet. 52122362AL requires a new pitman arm as well unless the newer gearbox is used (which includes a pitman arm that works with old or new linkages) or an aftermarket box is used, it also requires the newer style damper.

I just saw a 2006 3500 4x4 with a broken TRE that caused a traffic jam - it was running the old linkage so apparently there are a few. Lady was driving through construction zone and it headed into oncoming traffic, fortunately it was slow traffic and she could stop before doing any further damage.

N62 saga continues...

I called the Chrysler Recall Assistance Center, again. This time they threw the dealerships 'under the bus'. The Chrysler Recall Assistance Center said the dealers are not getting replacement parts because they are not completing the recall order in the 'back office system'! I've checked with two dealer, both said this is pure BS!

Has anyone actually had the recall successfully done?

Actually this is true. The system is set up to order a replacement as soon as one recall is processed. You get one for one or one in 7 days.

We are in Colorado for the Summer. I am on the "list" with the local dealer. We'll see how long this takes.

One issue with the way the system works is when the customer you ordered the part for does not come back in a timely manner to get it installed-screws up the sysytem

I have not done mine yet either.I will let all my clients go first, besides I would rather wait till my linkage has some wear before throwing it out

Just got my 2011 back from the recall. Complete tie rod replaced, left, right, and adjusting sleeve, and steering dampner mount. Both ends are now ball joint type instead of the single plane pivot style on one end.

I've been on the list less than a month. Got a call from the dealer this AM. Appointment on the 24th to install the recall.

Are you sure the right rod end is a true ball joint this time? Bob4x4 can you confirm?

PS don't mean to doubt you, but they do look identical from the outside. And if they did switch back to a standard ball and socket joint it means all these years of this linkage recall fiasco were totally unnecessary.

BobV, you cannot tell by just looking at the right rod end. From the outside it looks like a normal ball and socket.

Here is what the original 08 design right rod end looks like cut open:
