this is all getting pretty ridiculous. we are talking about how many recall letters on an 8 year old truck? im still skeptical about allowing a dealership to touch my truck without me being present at all times.
I just KNOW if I drop it off there, by the time I get across town my phone will be ringing with a "service adviser" telling me how I need new synthetic washer fluid, a battery flush, and im low on prop wash.

A friend just had hers done. The service dude said that they weren't responsible if they made the steering box break tryi to get the pitman arm off. I tried to suggest cutting it with a cut off wheel and don't damage the box. But they made her sign a release. Sounded like crap taking advantage of her.

This recall does not require the pitman arm to be touched.

i wonder how many ball joint and steering box jobs are being sold with this recall?

More like how many truck are out there running around with worn out parts.................

The trucks I see that just show up for recalls are generally in terrible shape.

That is not part of this recall.
The pitman arm must be changed when upgrading from the 03 style steering linkage to the 08.5 style.

That is correct except if you install the new steering gear box then it comes with a new pitman arm and you don't need to buy a pitman arm. At least that is what I have waiting for me in the new heavier OEM steering box from Mopar. Staying with the old gearbox requires a different pitman arm for the new linkage.

My recall was installed Tuesday. It seems to have tightened the steering a little. I had the Carli front end kit installed. It helped some. The recall helped some. IMO it's still a little looser than it should be. What's next?

You need to inspect all the steering for wear.........

I have just received the second recall notice for the steering linkage. The first recall was a few years ago. Both recalls involved dealer installed replacement parts. The steering linkages on my 2005 are still the original from the factory aside from a, BD STEERING BOX STABILIZER, I installed a while back. The dealer has not touched the truck since I drove it off the lot nine years ago. The truck drives just fine since I installed new shocks and stabilizer mounts. Do I need to be concerned?

Just drive it to any dealer.
No appt. required.
they'll look under the truck and then be able to tell you if the recall applies.
took my dealer exactly 2 seconds to say mine didn't, check off the box on the recall that says the vehicle was inspected. send in the card and you're done.
odds are the recall doesn't apply.
My local dealer has looked at (according to them) 150+ trucks and only had 2 that needed the linkage changed.

I called our local dealer for an update and they said they get 1 per week and I am 20 weeks out.....
Would it help to sign up at another dealership?

the newest one I got on the 14 is for the RF hub... also gotta have them look at the little button on the drivers door handle for unlocking the doors. Have to abuse it to get it to actually work. truck doesnt even have 4k miles yet and has already spent WAY more time at the dealership than the 06 ever did...

What is RRT?

Was there supposed to be an alignment with this recall? Dealer has no alignment rack and they said they did i, how I don't know. Now about 2000 miles into my vacation and the front tires are feathering fast and I had them rotated with the recall which now appears to have been a mistake.

anytime tie-rods ends are replaced an alignment must be done. Unless it is a crossover set-up and only the crossover drag link is replaced. In this case the worst that'll happen (assuming they got the length realatively close) is the steering wheel will not be centered. Feathered edges are an indication of too much toe-XX. outside edges=too much toe-in. inside edges too much toe-out. Ideal is 1/16" TOTAL toe-in for max wear.
