My 96 with over 200K is starting to act like the steering pump is going south. I first notice a "wobble" when turn corners sometimes. Thought it was a U-Joint. They are all fine. Today, at idle speed when turning to park and especially when applying the brakes, the steering felt like it was almost locking up (lossing power assist).

About a year ago, I siphoned off the factory fluid and replaced with the Valvoline synthetic stuff. Have never had noise, or problems.

Could this also be related to a binding tie rod. Mine are all original. Steers straight.

Is their a way to check the pump?

If it is determined to be the pump, what is a good replacement source? I don't need a better pump as the factory has been fine and I do little off road driving. Mostly on road.
