Does anyone know of an aftermarket steering stabalizer for a 01 3500 4x4? I don't care if it mounts up to the OE mounts or if it has it's own brackets as long as it fits. Thanks.

I have the dual Skyjacker set up, its works alright once you get done with the mods required to mount properly to our truck. Maybe by now they changed the design a little to fit better. I had to by seperate U bolts because the ones supplied were not big enough to fit around the axle housing, and you can't really mount it as the directions instruct you to do. But it did'nt take much to get it right, I just changed it around a little to a better position after some help from Nblack another member. I bought it a couple years ago from Jackit.com for around $80, it did make a noticable difference in my handling as compared to the stock one.

Part #SKJ 7218 but check on that make sure it is the same number still.

No fabs really

Just had to purchase bigger U bolts that would fit around our axle housing, for the bracket. Then once you get the stuff on you can't place the brackets in the position shown on the instructions. You have to move them around a bit to get everything to clear. On the passenger side you have to put some shims between the bracket and the steering bar to gain a little clearance so they don't hit (where the bend is). Nblack sent me some good pictures of his. I'll try and get them to you. :cool: :D
 
I'm guessing you're wanting a bolt on solution, but what I did was to use an aftermarket stock replacement stabilizer (forget the part number, but its a Pro-Comp or Rancho unit thats designed as a stock replacement for a Chevy straight axle truck). The come with replacement bolts to replace the tapered ones in the tie rod. I cut off the tapered end, then found a suitable place to weld one to the frame, and one to the linkage. Worked out pretty well, its nicely tucked up so its protected and you don't notice it.
