I HAVE A 1991 (EARLY) NON-INTERCOOLED DODGE 250 CUMMINS 3/4 TON 2-WHEEL DRIVE. MY QUESTION IS I'M HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING A STEERING STABILIZER AND FACTORY TACH. THANKS FOR ANY INFO.

You wont find a factory tach- Mopar quit making them some time ago, and they all sold out as soon as it was posted here that they werent making any more. THere are a few aftermarket companies that make em though. And you might luck out and find one used, though they go HIGH now. I'll be getting a kit for my ISSPRO soon as i get the cash. 4" exhaust this month.

Steering stabilizer for a 2wd? Seems like I saw one in Denver in 2000, right before I bought my 93W350. Seems like it was a Rancho, et al, shock, with a few brackets fabricated up. Didnt look bad. Drove good, too, though I dont have a "before" comparison. Now that you mention it, that wouldnt be a bad idea for mine or Mom's either. Hmmm... ... . More stuff to ponder while out wandering the woods, looking for survey markers that aint there no more.

PS- writing in ALL CAPS is considered shouting. Figured I'd warn you before the Pastor got ahold of ya; his stick packs a goodly wallop, or so he SAYS. No one has ever seen it, though... :p

Ohhhhh, ye who mock the faithful... .

HEY !!! I heard THAT ... !!

Don't make me whip out that stick... . geezzz..... that's 10 RWHP penalty...

OH, Welcome to the ranch there, CBottomley.

You can trust "most" of the guys here, the good one's are obvious and others... ... well..... they're on medication of one sort or another... or should be... :D:D:D

WELCOME ABOARD!

I have an Isspro tach that runs off the alternator. Works fine and is easy to hook up.

If you decide to go that way, let me know and I'll give you the details on how to do it.

Jay

Isspro is the only one I have been able to find. Why do you think you need a steering stabilizer? Is your steering loose? I don't know if the 4x2 is same as 4x4 steering, but the rag joint on our steering shafts go out quite frequently.

but the rag joint on our steering shafts go out quite frequently

Which brings up a question.....

When you guys install a Borgeson shaft, do you :

1) Re-use the old "rag" coupling?

2) Install the Borgeson coupling?

3) Eliminate the coupling altogether?

For those (if anyone) who have elimimated the coupling, do you feel any harshness up the steering column? Any road noise thru the column or wheel?

Jay

ECJ-

I think CB was referring to the box coupler and not the rag disk thingy. Now of course I don't know how CB drives so maybe his go out a lot. Mine is still stock. The Borg shaft goes between the steering box and rag disk joint thingy. The only difference in steering wheel feel is reduced play. A good thing.

THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLIES GUYS. I ORDERED FOUR GUAGES FROM SUMMIT YESTERDAY. AUTOMETER 2888 DIESEL TACH, transmission TEMP, VAC/BOOST, AND PYRO. I STILL WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE INSTALLED A STEERING SHOCK ON A 2-WHEEL DRIVE TRUCK. I TALKED TO RANCHO TECH YESTERDAY EXPLAINING THAT THERE SHOCK THEY SAY WILL FIT MY TRUCK HITS THE OIL PAN. THE TECH SAID AFTER RESEARCH THAT THE SOLUTION HAS BEEN TO MOVE THE BRACKET AHEAD TO CLEAR THE OIL PAN AND DRILL A NEW HOLE. ANYONE DONE THIS PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I'VE GOT THE TACH PROPLEM SOLVED. I SURE LOVE MY GEAR VENDOR AND TRANSMISSION I JUST INSTALLED WHAT A DIFFERENCE.
