Just wondering , reading the section in the owener's manual about how to lock the ignition and steering with the key. My 01 auto trans. does not have a LOCK between the OFF and ACC. or at least I can't get it to lock, even with the steering wheel in the straight up position. My key goes from OFF right to ACC. it wont lock no matter what. Does anybody else out there use the lock funtion and how do you do it. ? Just trying to make it harder for the thief, anything stolen around here is usually parted out before the cop's find it anyway.

Thank's,

Al

If you give the wheel a good reef without the key in it, it should lock. When i first had mine, I didn't think it locked. Then one day, I bumped it with my knee when I got in and it locked. It doesn't seem to lock as easily as some cars - maybe due to the big tires?

I thought the same thing when mine was new

My 99 is the same way,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,some times you got to really turn the wheel with the key out before it locks. *Special Note*Never have a hot cup of coffee in the hand that you are resting on the steering wheel when you turn the key to unlock it ,,,,,,(IT CAN REALLY MAKE A MESS) sounds like this ,,,,,,,,

BOING,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, SPLASH,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, AAAAAAHHHHH#&*%SH*#!!

Most of the newer trucks only lock with the steering wheel upside down. I forget what the reasoning behind that is, but it made sense a while ago when I heard it.
