My trucks steering wheel is offset about 15 degrees or so to the left when going straight down the road..... This does hide the seesawing temperature gauge. I'm just afraid I might miss it if it redlines one day:eek: What does it take to get it right?

Dude, You can adjust your drag-link. That's the bar that connects your pitman arm to your tie-rod. Loosen the two clamps and with channel locks you can spin the adjustment sleeve to center your steering wheel. Once adjusted tighten the clamps. Make sure your wheels are straight before you start. It's easier if someone is sitting in the truck while you doing this so you will know you're going the right way, and when the wheel is centered. 15 degrees will probably be about a 1/4 turn. -Glen

I just did this myself. Two things I learned. First, it is a VERY sensitive adjustment. A little goes a long way. Second, keep the clamp bolts pointed out, as they come from the factory to avoid hitting the rod behind them. Make the adjustment. Then tighten one clamp. Reposition the other one on the sleeve to make the bolt point in the right direction, using Channel Locks. Then tighten that one and reposition the other one. Good luck! It is sure nice to have a staight steering wheel. Too bad they can't get it right in the factory. Wonder what the dealer would charge for this simple adjustment??

PumperDude, I just replaced my ball joints and to get the steering wheel back to center, I spent more to replace the Idler and Pittman arm. Be careful that you don't cause another problem with the adjustments. My truck a "96" was @ 164-K so maybe more has worn seee that you have a "95". :-{}

Straight Steering Wheel

Mine is the same,has been that way since birth. However, I recently read in the TDR magazine that this was in the design of the truck in order to save your tires with the weight of the engine. Article said to check it by driving down the crown of the road and you only have a problem if it still does it. I don't know really, just read this and thought I'd pass it along.

Very interesting that it is supposedly designed that way, or to use a dealer term "normal. " I owned a 2000 that came from the factory with the wheel off center to the right. My 2002 was off in the opposite direction. Guess there must have been a design change between 2000 and 2002. No chance it could just be sloppy assembly, I'm sure.
