I have not driven the truck. A friend of mine has a 2003 SWB extra cab 3/4-ton 4wd. When he turns the wheel hard left or right to make a U turn. The steering wheel pulls back ageist him like it its 4WD. He said it does not do it all the time. It also does not have to be that hard of a turn. He said you would swear it is in 4wd the way it turns. Has anybody had the happen before? Both of mine my 97 and my 06 have never done this.

It sounds like a bad U-joint in the front axle shaft. Jack up the front wheels and spin them by hand. I'm guessing they are fine if the wheel is straight, but when turned, they'll be difficult if not impossible to rotate all the way around.
