steering wheel removal

I need to find out the correct way to remove the steering wheel without setting off the air bag. The clowns at the dealer damaged the leather wheel on my truck but refuse to take the blame. I picked one up at the wrecking yard, removed the blood and Im ready to install, but Im in BIG TIME FEAR of blowing up the air bag... HELP PLEASE!

Phil, the only "safe" way to do the job is to unhook both negative cables on the batteries. I have to assume you know how to remove the air bag module and steering wheel so I will stop at that.
