I have a 99 2500 with only 85k on it and there is quite a bit of steering wheel slop. It makes it very difficult to drive the truck and keep it between the lanes, especially with my 5th wheel being pulled. Anyone have any idea on which component I should look at first or a ball park $$ of how much the fix is going to cost? Any advice would be appreciated.

im working on a 3\4 ton dodge sport in the autoshop at my school and were replacing the steering box, upper and lower ball joints on both sides. the truck also has about 80k on it for mileage... i would take a look at these components first because he was complaining about the same steering slop problem

Do a search on DSS and track bar. Good place to start. SNOKING

fsthrse- its not fun believe me im dreading the day i have to do it to my own truck... we had to heat the axle nuts just to get them off an impact gun couldnt handle it so we had to use a 1"drive 2' long breaker bar to get them off... that was just the begning you also have to press the rotors off which also was a hassle once we got the rotors off, the hub assembly is apprently supposed to come off with the rotors... well it turns out it didnt and we had to use heat and an air chissel to get the hub off becase they were siezed to the spindle!

yea... I think I'll be putting on the dss and track bar first. thanks for feedback! Spoke with Darin at DSS and he was a big help.

I need a dss stablizer for my 98. 5 two-wheel drive, and the Texas distributor said they aren't making them for 2wd's anymore. . anybody know where you can get one or have a stabilzer for a 2wd for sale?
