My 01' wanders like a drunk duck, I took it back to the original dealer, those guys were awesome(SC). They adjusted it, helped a little, then they did it again, a little better, its pretty much as tight as can be without binding now, if anyone has any info on the ACR gear I'd like to hear about your exp.

I've had it to two other dealers both drove it and said "Thats the way its supposed to be" (as they sawed the wheel back and forth to keep it on the road) If it wasn't 1000 miles back down to SC I would go back in a heart beat. They said it the 2nd adj didn't fix it they would replace it!! With what?

Most of the play seems to be in the gear, I've watched the input shaft (while someone gently moved the steering wheel) you get about 1/4-1/2" of play with no pitman arm movement.

I've had 2 steering boxes due to steering wander, but still had the problem. Just before my truck went out of warranty, I had the dealer adjust the "over center" and also the bearing preload. See this TSB:

Steering Wander TSB

After doing both of these, my truck doesn't wander anymore and the steering wheel feels noticably tighter.

Both Adj done twice!

If I wanted to argue with the dealer, I might be able to get a new gear, but then I would probably have the same problem, would like to eventually go with an after market gear and maybe a lukes link.

Whats the latest info on the ACR gear???
