I'm going to have to agree with ftb87 on this one. I purchased the same thing he did(DC brushed aluminum nerf bars) and love them. The way they look and the height they sit at is just right. I too had the dealership sell them to me at dealer cost, which they were happy to do. Hope this helps.

What John said. The step height is just right on a 4x4. It is flat on the top and has a nice rubber top to prevent slipping.

How about a ride in your truck?????? I need to see what that 93%er feels like. If I like it you will not be the only one in Western Washington with one. I can pick up the parts at the same time. #ad

Hay guys I just purchased Putco Boss stanless steel running boards for my Dually 4x4 and boy they look good. I got them through Auto-Zone for I think a great price $481. out the door. There are two pices per side. Now any of you guys have any expirence with installing them on your rigs or any good tips for making them easier to install.
Any Info would be much appriciated.

I did get the Westins in. They came in about four days with no damage. I looked for the receipt for the rebate and could not find one. I wrote an e-mail last night to the place I bought them from and asked about a receipt. by 7:00 AM this morning, they had called Westin and confirmend that I could use the order confirmation from their web site as my receipt. Now all I need is a truck to put thim on.

I was in Pep Boys tonight and noticed that they had the Westin Chrome Plated Stainless steps for $329. The $35 rebate should apply to this price also.

I picked up the truck today. Westin bars are installed now. They look great. My biggest problem was trying to figure out which was the bar for the right side and which one was for the left.

Just mounted the Westin chrome stainless steel bars today- boy do they look sharp on
my Forest Green longbed!
They came UPS in good shape, bolt up to the cab mounts for a rock steady install, and only took 45 minutes to put on.

Yippeeee!

I prefer the "nerf bars", but recognize pros and cons to either.

Running boards are going to stay cleaner - after driving a sloppy road you don't want to put your foot in the mud that collects on top of the nerf bar. I'm sure salty snow does the same. So the running board is better if your main goal is improved access.

Nerf bars also improve access 95% of the time, but you may have to hose them off once in awhile if you drive the dirt roads. I prefer the bars because I consider them to be "sacrificial" pieces in the event of a "boo-boo". There are fewer nooks to hide salt and hold it against body panels; and more importantly the nerf bar can be pushed in quite a few inches before it begins to contact your body panels. So in a minor contact situation (tree, traffic, does it matter?) you may be less likely to spend big bucks repairing the body. This is JMHO; maybe someone who works in a body shop can comment.
