I have Nerf bars made by XL BOARDS, 3" ss bar wheel to wheel with anodized aluminum covering the top of the bar. cost me about $750 for a quad cab '04. No drilling about a 1 hour install. Very stong mounts and bar. I am 290lbs and can jump up and down on them with only minimal flex and no bending. A++ product and good people to deal with.

if you call ask for Jack he is the owner.

I have these on my truck. J&J Enterprises Nerf-N-Step bars. They are stainless steel. After 7 years they still look awsome. The mounting brackets are steel and have rusted, but the bars themselves have retained their shine and always shine right back up. They bolt to the cab instead of the frame, but are extremely strong. Not cheap. I think I paid $480. 00 for the pair 7 years ago. Here's the link:

Westin Platinum Series step bars here. Very nice, don't scratch at all and easy install.

A little pricey but a lifetime rust warranty. Looked around the 'net and found a good price with free shipping.

Very please with them

Steve

Well I have power-coated Smittybilts, well, they WERE powder-coated until they started to ROT after the warranty ran out. The integrity of the tubing seems fine until they cut the contour for the steps. Thats where they rotted looking like they've attacked by metal-eating termites! I would advise against steel rather than aluminum or SS. If you go with steel get tubes that aren't cut for steps!! :(
