1) get fishing line

2) get some wd-40

3) spray the badges and try to get it into the little places (remember your trying to get this stuff INTO the rubberize material underneath.

4) take your fishing line and run it under the chrome and use a sawing motion untill you get all the way threw and the badge falls off.

5) remove all bages on truck Using steps 1-4

6) Use NAFTHA and put it on and let it soak then peal off.

7) read below so you dont waste hours and dont have to buy special tools to do this.

Listen up here as i will tell you what i tryed to remove the rubberized material from the body AND DIDNT WORK

Goo Gone = Failed

WD-40 = Failed

Peanut Butter = Failed

Degreaser = Failed

Plastic Scraper = Failed and put a couple 1/4" scratches in my clear coat  .

ACETONE (i forgot i tryed this) = Failed DO NOT USE (will hurt your clearcoat if you rub in to hard)

WHAT DID WORK

----------------------

NAPTHA. My dad says they do sell this at hardware stores. I got it from our family business (machine shop) took a rag and a squirt bottle. I did it one letter at a time. Just squirt it on let it sit for about 2 minutes and you can literally peel it off with your finger tips.

I've never heard of NAFTHA. I'll have to see if I can find it. I have used 3M adhesive remover with fairly good results. NOT as easy as you've described. Hope I can find it. I have a new 2500 to do. Did my '03 hemi the day I brought it home from the dealer. This '04 CTD has had to wait a bit.

Thanks Wade i forgot i tryed that stuff.

Motorhead Monday i will come back and see where my uncle orders the NAFTHA from. Im sure they sell it in small packkages. We have like 5 30 gallon drums at work so i didnt have to look far for it :)

It helps to heat the tape up as well. Use a hair dryer or other means. I just let mine set outside in the 100+ temps last summer and it came off relatively easy with goo-gone.

XCumminsX You mean Naptha right. Should be available at any decent hardware or home improvement store. Also possibly paint stores too.

I finished de-badging tonight , could not find naptha so I used acetone instead . Worked perfect, no blisters on finger tips like the doors gave me and did not use the heat gun either. Just took this posts advice and kept resoaking the adhesive and used the plastic cap from the can as a gentle scraper. A quick rubbing with some compound just to remove glue residue and job complete. (less than an hour for the tail gate believe it or not ! Thanks for the tips men.

Yep, Ronson lighter fluid is pure Naptha.

A heat gun makes debadging even easier, but you've got to be careful not to start a melt on plastic.

Isn't it amazing how typing in all caps and changing one letter really screws things up?? NAFTHA? naptha! Oh sure, any hardware store, lighter fluid, charcoal lighter fluid, etc. WOnder if that's the active ingredient in 3M adhesive remover? Charcoal lighter fluid is a bunch cheaper than the 3M stuff, or cigarette lighter fluid either.

I used fishing line, and got the sticky stuff off with a vinyl eraser wheel. So fast and easy and safe, did the whole truck in about 45 minutes on a warm day.

hey guys use the naptha... I got all the junk off in about 30 minutes in COLD weather. . 35 degrees. . Im sure in the summer it would just fly off;)

thanx for this thread guys. now i just have to make up my mind whether i want to do it. my truck is VERY white. not sure if i'll like it with nothing to break it up a bit... ... your's look great though.
