If someone could help me out on finding steps for my 4x4. I would rather have steps than running board but haven't found any that I thought were very sturdy. I would like something that frame mounts, really hate to drill through the rocker panel. Any opinions would be great. THANKS

I went with steps for my truck just because I think running boards make the truck look to low to the ground.

I bought Steel Horse steps from Wally World. They mount on the pinch weld and brace against the back side of the body under the door sill. They seem to be fairly sturdy, more so than they look.

There are probably other steps that mount to the frame, but these are sturdy enough for me. I haven't seen any problems in the pinch weld area.

Good luck!

What kind of steps are you looking for? I have adapted a set of automatic motor home steps to my truck. They have two treads and automatically extend when the door is opened. And retract when the door is closed. They are rated for 300 lbs.

Check out the Waag side tubes, they go wheelwell to wheelwell so you can reach stuff in the bed of that 4x4 dually. They mount to the frame. You will have to find a dealer in your area that carries them.

Thanks for the info guys. Now I need to just decide which of the 3 tube type I'll go with. Probably the Westin Eurobars in 304 stainless.

THANKS AGAIN

Warn steps

I have the Warn steps and my wife loves them!!! I chose them because they were the only ones I could find that mounted to the frame. They are on their second truck and are holding up very well!! The step is fully incased in a material similar to Pachmayr rubber handgun grips!!!!

I went with the Westins because of opinions on this board. They were very easy to install in about 30 minutes. I have never had any problems out of them and they are very sturdy. Most girls seem to think that it is still too high to step up there without ripping a dress. There is no way that this truck would look as cool with running boards or the little loop steps. Nerf bars are the way to go.
