Question on the Stock, non Premium stereo..... I'm in the process of replacing my door speakers and adding a set of subs for under the back seat. I have an amp for the subs already from an old project. What is the output of the stock stereo? how many watts? 25? 30?. I know the speakers in my doors don't have an amp attached to the back as I've already pulled pulled them and checked the wiring due to one speaker not working at all. Thanks for the help in advance.

Morph.

The stock radios have a peak rating of 66 watts. Thats total:-laf And that is at 3% THD (total harmonic distortion). These are pathetic #'s. That means these stereos are about 10 watts rms per channel. Get a new radio. :)

Morph,

What Chipstien said plus - You can't get a preamp feed off the stocker to drive those subs

Trash it and get a cd player with a preamp level sup output...

When I changed out my stereo. The dealer did the install. They were unable to complete the whole thing in one day. They got my new Alpine 7873 deck in, but were unable to get my Boston Acoustics 6. 5 Pros in. I could believe the diffence my Alpine made on the factory speakers. I also have a Thunderform subbox loaded with two tens under the rear seat. The whole system is powered by a PPI 4200 amp. I would advise you to do a full upgrade if your going to do anything. I bought most my componets off the internet, you can get great deals if you look around a little. Do not keep the factory deck, get a new one.
