Did you bring it up at the truck show? If so, what did they say? Saw no mention of it in your article.

Yes we did, I guess I wasn't that explicit about it in the article. That was part of what they were tight lipped about. They said they weren't at liberty to discuss it. We did however speculate that it's highly doubtful Dodge would release an entirely new frame and transmission solely for the 3500 chassis cab. They did also say that they want to step carefully into the market because they don't want to make mistakes. I'm sure that we'll be seeing something in the future - when that is I have no idea.

I'm going to be ignorant, but what does everyone want an 4500/5500 series truck for? I see guys with Super Duty F-550/650 Trucks, and a damn Toyota Tacoma would suit the just fine? I don't get it really is it a badge thing? or just bragging rights?

because there are trailers and cargo out there that weigh too much for our 1 ton dually trucks to legally haul but we still want a Dodge CTD!

I for one would like to see some Class C motorhomes built out of Dodge front ends. Oo. All are built with mostly Ford, or chevy gas motors. Dodge needs to make a 4500 or 5500 hundred before that will happen. Most if not all triple axle 5th wheels should be pulled with at least a 4500 or 5500.

BINGO! This is why some of us want one. Also, the advent of 19. 5 wheels and LARGER brakes!.

But ... if DC decides to build them, they need to do it BIG TIME.

Minimums should be:

- 300 or 305hp and 860 lb/ft. engine

- optional 7 or 9 speed manual and an automated manual

- STANDARD onboard air

- axles Frnt/Rear: (4500) 8k/10k, (5500) 10k/16k

- front tilting hood

Some of us have hobbies that include hauling 2 or 3 Jeeps long distances loaded with camping gear, spare parts, fluids, and all the tools you think you may need 100 miles from a parts or hardware store. That stuff is worth a lot of money, not to mention the wife and 3. 5 year old in the back seat. Having the added capacity and safety margin of a 4500 or 5500 is a small increase in cost to potentially avoid flipping and rolling $150,000+ across the median of the interstate. And it's bragging rights as well. :D

I hauled a load the other day that weighed in at just under 24K... that's just the cattle. Throw in another 6K for the trailer and you see why I want a 5500. Screw the 4500, straight to the 5500 for me. Technically even a 5500 won't be rated high enoug, but it's better than what I'm putting my poor truck thru now.
