Duramax Spark Plugs!

11,000 # In The Bed

Did ya get to the part of the BrembO brakes? There's 4 grand worth of binders on the car  13. 5 inch rotors up front with six piston sintered brembo calipers and pads (4 piston 8. 75 inch rears with sintered setups as well) Fast ... . 4. 6 0-60 times have been clicked off in the car from Road and track (Balls out of course)

My Bombed 'Rex couldn't hang with the STi. Sure maybee I could come close on the 60" mark but the STI would slaughter me in the slalumn , stopping , Going , 1320 , and looks ;) But yeah I miss her :(

Chevrolet used to have a water injection setup on there turbo Corvair, only it was injected into the intake in an attempt to stop detination. (the Corvair did not have intercoolers).

They stopped using it as they found nobody ever filled the bottles once they were empty.

Manual water spray? WOW! Saw one on the road last week, nice looking car--just not too sure of that hood scoop...

Yeparooo! I remember my neighbors CoffinAire. That motor rans soo frikkin hot I was often left  and he religiously had a fresh batch of ice water to go for those sunday rips.

they really were nice cars. Ralf Nadar was Wrong! I used to wrench on lots of them in the late 70's. The biggest problem was the owner would read 35psi off the bias ply tire sidewalls, and fill it to 35psi. I think the front called for something real low like 17 or 24. When you put 35psi in the front tires, they blow up so there is only about an inch on the road, and it really gets hard to control the car over city road speeds

Of course being air cooled, rear engine, they did get hot, which was OK until you developed a small engine leak :(

Or the oil smell would get into the cab and just about knock you out, but VW also had this problem.

but they would go anywhere in the snow, until it got deep enough to float the car.

I used to work on Corvair cars, Green Brier Vans, Pickup trucks, etc, etc. We had a couple collectors that brought them to the place I worked.

I would love to find one that was in good shape for cheep. You can take them to car shows and not have to worry about "that part is wrong, etc, etc" like the Corvett guys go through.

TP, It's funny you said that cause he also had a mint ghia as well. The 'Vair was mint as he showed it off at local shows (By Far It Wasn't a trailer queen but rather a weekend cruizer) but the Ghia ... . That thing was some kind of off beat khakki color that for some reason if I remember right gave him bragging rights to somethin'. THAT was the trailer queen and lived in the garage in it's own bay under a special cover.

The hood scoop directs air over the intercooler that is mounted on top of the engine. So, at least it does have function.
