Ok guy's I am looking at a 2011 3500 loaded with moonroof, nav Amp step's spray in bed liner tow package 410's and the dealer is trying to tell me it's a 58,000 $ truck out the door . Claim's I am approved for 50,000 but want's me to fork the other 8000. 00 over so far I told him forget it . what's a good price ? Any Idea sticker show's 53,800

Thank you

Val

Mine 2011 stickered for about 53,000. I paid cost less rebates which came to a little over 45000. I would have to look at the invoice to be exact, but thats within a couple hundred. Make them show you their invoice, not the one that shows sticker, but the one that shows what they actually paid for the truck. If you get it for that less rebates the dealer is still making money anything more and their robbing you.

Call Dave Smith Motors in Idaho. I'm in San Diego and got mine there. 70% of their biz is out of state. Very nice folks. They'll e-mail you a price from their huge inventory. I tried to buy locally to no avail. Two others here did the same thing.

I tryed DSM and didn't feel like he was doing anything special for me so that's why I went local that's where I got my 08 is local but the truck he is offering me doesn't feel right he said everything out the door comes to 58 and I think he's not shootin straight but we will see how well he finishes the deal off but definitely not 58 grand worth

"Out the door" means with sales tax, registration fees, title transaction fees, and whatever other nuisance fees the dealer adds. If the selling price is in the low $50k region and you add sales tax it's not hard to reach $58k. All the bells and whistles like 4wd, navigation, and sunroof on top of the price of a loaded Laramie easily reach into the $50s.

You didn't say but I assume you were trading the '08 in your signature. It's much harder to get a rock bottom price when the dealer has to take a trade. Unless the dealership owner is a complete moron and that would be unlikely he knows that used diesel trucks sitting on his used lot could soon bury him. Diesel fuel prices are rising pretty quickly and this administration is known to prefer extremely high fuel prices in the $6/gallon range.

Lots of websites like NADA or Kelly Blue Book should tell you the actual invoice price of the truck you want.

If your '08 is financed, you could be "upside down" with it as far as a trade-in and the dealer is using some "creative financing" by upping the sales price of the new truck in order show more for your trade-in.

If it is a dually the profit margin on a fully loaded larimie is 15K so take it from there. If u have the option to shop around, do it. I got a deal no one thought I could get but I was in no hurry and got the deal I wanted on a 2007. 5, 2500, 6. 7, auto, quad cab, 4x4, SLT with thunder road package, hd, 3. 73, limited slip. Listed 46,380 paid 41, 380 with 0% for 5 yrs. on Oct 6, 2007. The dealer still made approx 5k according to consumer reports. Trucks are the most profitable units for auto manufacturers.

Our 2011 dually has every option except for the sunroof and rear entertainment system and stickered for $53K. We ordered it in August and took delivery September 11. The best deal I found around Houston (and a number of dealers offered it) was dealer invoice less any applicable rebates at the time of delivery. (By the way, I tried Dave Smith Motors - they never responded to my inquiry and Henson Motors in Madisonville who used to be the low price dealer in the area but is under new ownership, I understand, was higher than the Houston area dealers. )

No way was our out the door price anything near $58K!

When I lived in California, the average out-the-door price was about 11% over whatever your negotiated price was. So a $53K truck would be $58. 8K OTD. (In CA you pay regular sales tax plus title, license, tip, etc... . ) It was always felt that if you could get out the door for sticker price you were good... . so you should get out-the-door for $53... . which means you are paying roughly $47. 2K

I haven't looked into the new trucks as far a price goes, but give Carson Dodge a holler. They have done good deals for me, so much so that DSM started advertising in the Reno paper. The salesman I used (Chuck Gillies) is no longer there, but if you're looking at $58K, I'd certainly give it a little more looking.

My 2011 3500 dually laramie loaded up with everything but nav and sunroof MSRP was $56,300, I paid $49,506 including the rebates. I ordered it Friday after Thanksgiving and it arrived yesterday. We agreed on 'dealer invoice' plus 1% minus rebates.

Thankfully Oregon has no sales tax:)

Thank you guy's for the info Yes I am trading in the 08 and I think that's where he's trying to stick it to me is trade in price but I have not givin up on being stuck on a price I am waiting on his call today and at most I am going to go to 52,000 and see what he say's and go from there . I know it can be done just have to stand my ground . :)

The large dealers will all do about 500 over invoice. Invoice is about 7-8000 under msrp. If your. not. getting that go somewhere else. I know Dave smith motors will do it and my dad had our. local dealer down to 300 over invoice.

The one thing it sounds like most people are forgetting is the aftermarket equipment you mentioned. AMP steps are close to $2000 if I'm not mistaken... A dealer typically marks this up as well. If you really want to deal - you'll have better luck on a factory optioned truck where they have all the markup.

Yes it has aftermarket on it but there is only 2 thing's a spray in bed should be about 450. for liner n amp step'sare roughly 1600. I still don't see 58,000

Unless its made of gold you should not be above $50K (not including sales tax). The beauty of capitalism is you don't need to buy it from that dealer. Just move on they don't want to haggle. They will either sell it to someone who will pay the price they want or they'll discount it down later on. Fair Market Value is a price agreed to by a willing buyer and a willing seller. If you cann't meet at a price just move on, never get attached to a particular truck on a lot because its got fancy wheels or some add on you could do yourself. I've seen our local dealers add stuff like lift/tires/wheels and jack the full MSRP by $8k because someone will pay for it. I will not.

Dealers are not in the wholesale add on market. They add the accessories to make money. Choose one without the dealer adds if you are looking to make the best deal

I just went to numerous internet dealers within a predetermined distance and asked for price quotes for the truck I wanted. I got some very good pricing this way. The ones that wanted me to call or not give a quote I ignored them. Also go on ebay and use the advance search feature. (if you have an account) type in your year and model. The check off the "completed listings". Then you can get a real world value on your truck, whether it sold or not.

i am ordering my mega cab tomorrow list 57300 my price 51422 plus rebates that price is with my friends and family number hope truck will be here by april
