Hi all,

My 03' CTD will sometimes stick at a high idle (~1000 RPMs). It mainly does it when I'm pulling into my driveway and slowing to a stop, or when slowing down to an intersection. It just won't idle down sometimes. I tried blipping the throttle but it doesn't make a difference. But I can push the brake pedal down kinda hard and this will load the engine enough to bring it back down to normal. My old Chevy used to do this but it was the advance weights in the distributor sticking. Not sure what causes this on my Dodge, couldn't seem to find the distributor, lol. :D I'm not showing any codes. Any ideas? Thanks, Will

Sticking

Welcome to the club. There has been quite a few threads on this lately, do a search and you will see. There has been alot of guesses, but no good answers.

Wow, I can't believe how many threads we've seen on this lately! Seems all too common on high-mileage 2003 trucks.

I wonder whether it's mostly people who have run a fueling box.

Mine did it last week... never had a box.

I'm attributing it to a failing FCA as I'm seeing a lot more "drift" in rail pressures even at cruise...

Don't get your hopes up on the FCA. I changed mine and it didn't do anything for it. Had my injectors rebuilt with upgraded nozzles as well and that didn't fix it either. There seems to be a lot of them out there so we will figure it out someday.
