I had my pump off to get it calibrated and now that everything is back together my throttle is really stiff. Can somebody give me some pointers how to fix this? I don't really know where to start.

Thanks,

Check out each section of the accelorater, cable, Bell crank, linkage. Its rubbing some place.

John;

The bell crank as I understand, just behind the gear cover left side of engine, is where the throttle cable attached and linkage is attached on the engine side. Make sure that the linkage is not rubbing on the engine and the ball and sockets are seated and all move freely. If the throttle cable is stiff when off check for kinks or smashed areas. Maybe replace it if not smooth.

My problem was easy to fix - and it was all my fault. When I pulled the pump, I disassembled the throttle linkage - partly to get it out and partly to clean it. The bell crank is held to the throttle assembly with three small bolts (different than the 3 cap screws that hold the entire assembly to the pump). These can be easily removed once the assembly is off the pump. When I reassembled everything, I put the spring part on 180* wrong. The result was way too much tension right off idle. Once I corrected this I was good to go - well, except for the fact that I'd yanked one of my vacuum lines loose and lost 4x4 :rolleyes: Anyway, all is good now and I'm very happy with the results.
