Vacuumn pump / PS pump

I bought the kit from John with the seal, and o-rings... Got the gasket from Cummins. . and proceded to get 'er done...

It appeared the seal was still pliable, and soft... the new seal didn't feel any different... went back together just fine... still leakin'... Heres what I foun... it seems like the area at the Vacuumn pump can't support the shaft, and gets just a litte wobbly in that area, plus I noticed a slight groove where the old deal was riding on the shaft... no way you could adjust the seal in or out to cut a new groove... the seal needs to have more sealing surface, or what??? Buy a new pump... I'll let it go for a while... . I hate it when all my frnt end get all greasy, and dusty... . :{

Mine is still leaking also. I was told that the power steering pump shaft can have burrs that will tear the seals. I didn't feel any when I changed mine. Needless to say it's still leaking and I can see it getting on my tailgate and the whole underside. I'm waiting for cooler temps here in Texas before I do it again.

Im thinking i have the same problem but now that your talking about having oil all over the underneath and near tailgate area, Im not so sure thats the problem with mine, well vaccum pump that is, might just be the power steering resevoir, Hmmmm i just need to have it looked when it gets worse i guess or i get time enough to take it in, dang job, no rest for me I guess...
