Well, I finally got around to putting the KSB solenoid back on. It was leaking from where it joins the pump body, right at the bottom. I filed the mating surface on the KSB flat, since it wasen't perfect, put in a new green O-ring from Bosch, bolted it together with new bolts, started it up, and it still leaks. :{
I can see it good with a light and a mirror, and am 98% sure it is coming from the joint between the KSB and the pump, and not from the cover on the block side of the pump.
Any ideas? Could there be a crack? What to do next? Will I have to pull the pump?
I have reveiwed the directions for pulling the pump and I don't see a problem except for the part about "barring" the motor over to line up the TDC pin. Looks like thats a special tool that I don't have - to insert into the bellhousing and turn the motor. Any other way to do it?
BTW, I advanced the timing 1/8" today while I was fooling with it. After I loostend the nuts, I used a porta-power hydraulic ram between the battery tray and the top braket on the pump to push and hold it in the right position while I tightend the nuts. Worked pretty slick!
