took the pump back off tightened the fitting with new tape put it back on pressurised the tank and primed. quickly got fuel to the filter, but then when priming there was a sucking noise. bled the lines at the injectors tried to start. sputtered and started for a while then died. more sucking noise. there is a big air leak somewhere that the fuel cant keep up with. whenever the pump is primed the noise comes back.

where do you think it is

the fitting on the lift pump is wrapped with teflon, but not thread locker.

i took the fuel heater out. could the washer be bad.

im leaning toward the fitting so can someone reccomend a good thread sealer.

when i have more time(someone called in sick to work today. i got the call when i was under the truck) ill start by pulling the supply line back off and pressurising it again to hopefully nail down the leak. check all the lines and clamps, most likely end up pullin the pump again and reseal the fitting with some thread lock this time. what do you do with the now useless wires coming from the prefilter. cut and cap or just leave as is. should the gaskets for the pump be sealed with something.
