i e-mailed banks 5 days ago to ask if my 1998. 5-2001 ottomind will work on a 2002 truck. they replied to my e-mail saying"a tech rep will call you as soon as possible" Gale, you reading this? i'm still waiting for a call!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and they wonder why they have a bad reputation for poor costomer service

do any of you know if i can put this on a 2002? i think the map sensor may be diffrent... ..... thanks... . james

james , if the ottomind connects to the mapsensor then one that works on a 98. 5 - 200 will not work on a 2001 or newer ...

It won't work.

I haven't heard of a 98. 5-2001 ottomind. They changed the map sensor in 2000 didn't they? Anyway, I know it won't work. A friend wanted to use mine in his 2001 and it had a different connector. I don't know if someone makes a pigtail to convert it or not. Might be a market for such a device though.

Based on your description, it sounds like you must have sent an e-mail through our “Ask Banks” link on our website. To answer your question, the Banks OttoMind and wire harness for the earlier model years will not work on a 2002 model. For one thing, the connector on the MAP sensor is different, and aside from that, our Engineering department is still finalizing the calibrations for the 2002 model year.



By the way, all of the “Ask Banks” questions are routed through me, and if the questions are of a technical nature that can be handled by our Technical Service staff, I reply with this message,



“Your question has been forwarded to our Technical Service Department. They should be contacting you shortly. If you have any further questions, please contact this department at (888) 839-2700. ”



You will notice that we say we will contact you, not call you. Since this information comes to us through e-mail, we cannot call you unless you supply a phone number. Aside from that, I looked through all my e-mails from 11-13-01 through 11-21-01 and find no record of any such message from you. Perhaps you sent the e-mail to a different address at Banks, but you would not have received the message that you mentioned from anyone else, so I am left confused. If you still have unanswered questions, I would recommend that you call (888) 839-2700.

i did send it to the "ask banks" e-mail address on your web site. thank you for your responce. i recieved a e-mail the same day saying a rep would contact me. that was days ago. i also did call your tech line and sat on hold listening to the beach boys for 15 minutes before i hung up and sent my question VIA e-mail. i don't understand why you guy's have a "ask bank's" link and dont answer the questions posted there. also, if i hadn't posted this link would i still be waiting for the technical service department to contact me?... ... ... ... ... james
