I posted recently about a problem I had with my 98 12-valve not shutting down after turning off the key. I changed the fuel shut off relay and that did not cure the problem.

When I turn off the key the engine continues to run for anywhere from 3 to 30 seconds.

I can go under the hood and push the fuel solenoid and shut down the engine.

Is it time for a new fuel solenoid? Any thoughts? Thanks, Jeff

Clean linkage. Make sure boot is not torn. Disconnect solenoid and see if the lever on the pump is sticking. Check to see how the solenoid works with it disconnected from the pump lever. Lube the whole mess with something like LPS #2. The solenoid should be ok as long as it pulls up and stays up like it should. Not letting go means something is sticking.

It's probably siezed where the shut off solenoid connects to the lever. Pull the solenoid out, with the lever and free it up. I just did mine the other day.
