Competition EGT Question

This place is so stinky and old its scaring me!

What the heck 99% of the TDR wana-bee Racers/Sled-puller

use to hack each other up every day. Now Im lucky to see one new post a month. What gives? Now that TDR gave us a place to talk smack your all out?

What the heck has everyone been building this winter? Im shooten for a 14 flat in my 02 5speed ex-cab long bed 4x4 with a cool 7000lb curb weight.

But I still have a long way to go. Need a new/better clutch and some way to hold the head down tight. I also got a nice little farm truck the other day.

1981 D-250 auto. It should make a darn nice little dragger.

Whats up with that yella S-10?

Sleddy you on meds or something?

I hear ya...

I think we have about 5 people that actually post in the comp forum.

Any threads I start that are even close to controversial will get moved to the "banter" forum. Its hurt the forum overall. :{

After going to Vegas, I felt bad for you westers, and want to help you get your trucks set up, and headed for some real power.

I never saw so many dyno queens at 800 hp+ one day, and pulling like a stocker the next. :-laf I'm sure it was the track. Or the sled. Or the air. or the tires. Or the ever famous,"I had to drive home, so I pulled like a girl. "

Oh yea, on just about stock turbos. :D

What the heck you hitch-hiked all the way to Vegas?

What was wrong, your pink truck blow a tampon?

:-laf

Now were the heck is that Amish at?

Dun Duh Daaa!

Did someone call for the bearded crusader?

Sorry for the delay, I've been mushin my buggy back home from Bristol this weekend. There's some fast diesel trucks down there! Just being parked next to those things made my buggy faster. (Ask the feller in KY with a white D-Max. Wudn't Dennis, I know better ... but he did hold up a bottle of Crown when he gave me a thumbs up. )

Hey fellers... Lewis Preston told me a joke this weekend. I didn't think it was all that funny, but everyone else was rollin'! ;)

This is paraphrased slightly:

Whaddya call a man with his arm up a horses bum?

..... Amish Mechanic. :-laf

"too-shay," LPreston. "too-shay. " (Thats the Amish spelling)

Speaking of the Keating Machine crew... . Great bunch of guys. Comp, ya better bring yer wood screws, cause they may just blow yer doors off! :-laf I'm not gonna say but it was a couple 8. xx in the heat of the day for the crowd. Nice runs fellas. That motor should break in just fine. :D

Aey, Comp! Where you at man? Testin at Area 461 again? Throw us a bone, man. You still set for the debut in two weeks? Any bold proclamations? Nitrous futures in Texas are through the roof. Ya gotta be doin somethin. Give us a picture at least. You with the motor, you with the truck, you with the motor in the truck? What ever you do... just be sure to wear that pink shirt again. :p ;) :-laf

Lotsa good DHRA pro street action too, but thats for another thread.

Gotta run fellers, time to do my ritualistic unplugging of the Dish for the 1/2hr trucks airs.

And don't forget to double up on the matching pink panties when you see Keating's truck run, we don't want any messes trackside!!!!!

Amish you wouldn't be talking about a white GMC 2003 4 door would you?

Ryan Updegraft was pushing down around 12 seconds last time I heard... .

Does Ryan drink crown? :-laf :-laf

Nah, it wudn't him. I've never seen his truck this dirty. If he's down round 12sec. he'd a walked me cleanly, no matter how hard I kicked the spurs. I'll be hitchin up a couple more mules to the buggy this summer, then maybe. Just a couple country boys havin a little fun.

Sounds like we are talking about Bowling Green? While all that matters is the last pass, here are some pretty interesting facts:

5 of the 7 passes Keating made on Saturday would have won that race.

Made the only sub-9 second passes.

New MPH record set.

All done on a $750 junkyard longblock built in 2 weeks on it's second trip to the track.

Had time allowed the best 2 out of 3 as it was supposed to go down and more than likely would have had different results. However, all that matters is the last pass. Thats racing.

Gotta give props to Comp for making that long trip up, wrenching hard and taking the win. Do I smell rematch? Oo.

Wish I could have been there... . damn work getting in the way of the good stuff!

There was absolutely zero track with which to work with, if I can’t get a state of the art chassis down the track, then its shows the condition of the track. I know that Dennis shelled out well over a thousand on the track prep, and 300 extra for the last half of the day. Something needs to be addressed, about the soot on the track surface, from down pointed exhaust.

The fact that there was only one run , was because of time constraints, a bad battery post did not help. We had someone help back at the shop , over tighten a new 16 volt battery and pull the top out of it , it show up at the worst time , and Keaton’s sportsmanship showed by refusing to go down the track on a single for the win.

That said , we were in a test mode until the race , dialing in the different aspects of a completely new power plant and drive line. For those of you that did not realize, the crew chief on this outing, is a Comp Racer named Charlie Stewart, he has a reputation for getting cars down the track and winning. This is evident by the Wally’s that line his office and a NHRA world Championship Wally for his team about 10 years ago. He is a little hard core, and direct, but he gets the job done. The motor had a total of 30 minutes time and 6 laps on it. I am sure we could have turned on the win light if he had been there all the way to the strip. But drag races are not won on “COULD OF , SHOULD OF MIGHT OF

Taking nothing away from the power their car exhibits, but if you look at the stats. I was one or two passes away from a 1. 20 60 foot, we ran 1. 30 on that lap. More then a dime faster the other lane, and we were only starting to turn the wick up. We did what was necessary to get to the finish line on a very marginal track. I clicked the pass at the thousand foot mark when I did not see him or at 7. 91 seconds in to the pass. That does not take in to account the . 88 seconds I was off the throttle when it spun the tires on the 1 2 shift and banged third, causing a mini tire shake.

No trying to belittle the other guy , we went there to win a race , and getting to the finish line safely and in one , so if any one wants to start the could of , would of , should of . I can get there also.
