DHP Going out of Business

I just replaced both batteries on my 2 1/2 year old truck. They both had the little green light still showing. I took it to Wallyworld and they found one of the terminals had broken off and was able to rotate while still attached. This caused the good one to be drained and stressed so much that it was worn out too. No telling how long it had been broken. It never leaked or gave any sign it was broken. But they both still had the little green lights glowing. I replaced them with two $59 Maxx-1 specials and the engine turns over like it is new again. 3 year free replacement on the Wallyworld ones, with 9 year total warranty. I guess we will see. Cant afford the Optimas right now. My divorce attny has all my spare change.

Mine will be 5 yrs old in Feb. Can I expect to be replacing them soon. Wouldn't mind replacing them before they die if it's just a matter of months. My experience in the past with batteries is they didn't give me a lot of warning before I was dragging out the jumper cables. Not to mention the stress on the charging system running around with a dead battery.

One of my post's snapped also and the other battery went to crap. I think its just part of mopars money saving habbits.

Just replaced the original batteries on my wife's 95 CTD and will replace them on my 96 today. After they were 2 yrs old, I would pry off the tops and check and fill water when needed once a year. Replace the tops with silicon around the edges. They last a long time if you keep the water in them. They dry out in about 3 yrs. if you don't.

I just had a battery explode when I was starting my John Deere last week. I have hear of it happening but never experienced it before. It sounded like a shotgun going off. It blew that whole top off the battery. Fortunately it was in an enclosed area. It scared the crap out of the laborers on the job site. Cleaned everything up and replaced with an Optima.

I replaced both of mine with less than 3 years since one of them started to leak and was making a mess. Got some Optimas and don't have the mess. Never will buy "regular" batteries anymore.
