I was just wondering how well the stock clutch holds up with the EZ box. I'm not going to add bigger injectors (YET) but this seems to be the next step in the BOMBing process. :D

With just the ez you should be fine with the stock clutch. Of course later you will want more then down the road the stock clutch will need to be upgraded.

I would try to be prepared to buy a clutch, just in case. Mine lasted about 100 miles with just the EZ and it really sucks driving a broke truck while you are coming up with the grand or so to fix it.

CUMAPART,

I've been running my EZ for around one year & 15K miles with no problems so far. I drive fairly conservatively, but have done a fair amount of pulling. From what I've read here on the boards, some ETH clutches seem to hold up a lot better than others.

I can atest that bombing is addictive though. Piers had a special on DD2's a month or so back, and it was all I could do to resist! If not for the fact that we're in the middle of building a nwe house, I would have ordered a set... really don't need for the truck to be down right now though, so I guess I will wait a few more months.

The EZ alone will make you feel like you're driving a new truck, and your clutch will probably be fine. Go for it!!!

Yep, I know a guy that put an EZ in a new stock ETH and the clutch wouldn't hold it. On the other hand my ETH clutch held the PE on setting 2. It was all over after I added the shower heads:D

Jmarkos #2

I changed a cluthch out for a friend about a month ago. He put on an EZ and the clutch only held for about 100 miles. Actually, everything looked great except for the disc. It was very glazed. I am willing to bet that a "more agressive" disc, mated up with the stock pressure plate would hold quite a bit more torque and HP.

I have friend with a stock 01,with only 5K miles on it. and after the EZ was put in,he could slip the clutch if he tried, immediately, not within 100 miles, like on the first road test, its pretty weak,so if you order a SBC,and have it ready,it should last forever, buti f you dont it will self destruct in 5 minutes after putting it on.

I've been runing the EZ and towing/hauling all of the stuff in sig. for 15,000 miles with no problem at all.

Course, I don't beat on it by doing holeshots with it every traffic lite.

I've read here that an EZ and DDI's can be run with the stock clutch FWIW

My stock clutch held 334/821 at the last DFW dyno day. I guess some stock clutches are better than others. It does slip some but here lately, no problems. Go figure.

Thanks guys:D The EZ is on the way. I don't plan on roastin the tires off of her at every light but like ya say this bombing thing is addictive.

now could you stick with the stock clutch if you were runnin the COMP as opposed to the EZ? And by the way, what is the difference between the two? Is it worth the extra money?

Chaw has hit on a point: Some OEM clutches hold better than others. My first started slipping at 22,000 miles. That was in the middle of all that broo-ha-ha about after market clutches. So I opted for another OEM from my DC dealer. I now have 80,000 miles on the truck and still holding well. I did however send my old core to SBC so when my clutch does start slipping a remedy is only a phone call away. I am an RV dealer and tow all the time... ... ..... plus look at my signature... ... ..... go figure?

EZ AND CLUTCH

I have ran 12,000 miles no problem. But i dont abuse it or let my wife or kids drive it either. They have there own cars, trucks. I really belive it is how you drive it and take care of it. I do haul also but i dont do power take offs and try to boil the tires either. I have had good luck so far. Good luck. :D

I just put an EZ on my rig a couple of weeks ago, and pulling a 4200 lb trailer slips my clutch. I'm easier than most with clutches. What I did was to move my jumper from the #3 position, to the #1 position and I think this will help. I'm pulling the trailer tomorrow and will see if it slips again. Just another problem we need to deal with. " Dodge Built Lamb Tough"
