Hey guys,

I am just wondering how many of you have done power upgrades, like programmers or what not, and kept the stock clutch? I am planning on getting a power system, like banks or edge, but I really don't want to yank the trans/transfer case to upgrade my clutch quite yet. I would like to get the most use out of it first, then upgrade of course :-laf . Thanks

Corey

Mine lasted about 8,000 miles with the TST twins program and twin turbos. At about 8,000 miles with the combo it started slipping. It was managable to daily drive, but had to be replaced.

I ran an EDGE EZ for 25k miles on #4 with no problems. I've only had the Juice w/Attitude on for a couple of weeks so far, but no problems when hammering it in 4th, 5th, & 6th whilst on #5.

My stock clutch held up to 500 hp. You're not going to get that much out of programmers and a stock turbo.

I am running the TST stacked and have not had trouble with the clutch. The turbo is where the trouble lies. The temps are out the roof. I restrain myself from going over 5-5 on the TST. It runs well on this setting. Anything above that I will want a fuel system upgrade and a turbo upgrade. I plan to run the stock clutch until it will not hold anymore.

Mine slipped with the VA/Quad race combo, so I upgraded to the SBC FE. That combo dynoed 400 hp with 35" duals. I imagine alot depends on what you are doing. Towing with that power was BAD! If you want big power, gotta have the grip to put it down. The big one os going to be what does it do whenyou shift? That was my problem. The clutch would hold it, but in a string shift, it would slip before it grabbed, sometimes alot. If you are just going to throw dyno numbers, you may be ok, but if you plan to drag with it or just screw with little rice punks you need to upgrade, no question. Besides, the install wasn't that bad and no special tools were needed. Just rent a transmission jack ($45 a day) and call a buddy and bait him with beer and pizza. Works every time! :D

Ran a EZ for 60k miles on levels 4 & 6, then switched to an PMCR, been running it and towing 18-22K# on a regular basis from Oklahoma to here. At 94. 1k miles still working great. Will upgrade when this one no longer does its thing!

I must have a poor stock clutch... I can get the clutch to slip just a little with my TST on 2/2! Texas Cat says he runs his on 5/5!!! With my stock clutch and the tst on 5/5 I can slip the clutch at will with only half throttle applied. I'm going to do a clutch upgrade this winter so I can atleast keep the TST on 3/3.

When I first put the TST on I left the predator off. The TST was really scary. I just comes on so hard and fast I was sure that is was going to tear something up. I was very gentle with it for a few weeks, then decided to put the predator back on. I can now run the TST on higher levels and it does not seem as hard on everything. The TST is supposed to come on when you reach 12psi of boost, this is why it is eating the clutch. With the pressure box the power starts coming on earlier but not as hard. Its like an easy build of power, but more than being stock, then when the TST comes on it is not as aggressive but still tons more power. Its hard to explain. I am still playing with it trying to get the most out of it without having to do the other upgrades yet.

On my Edge Juice W/Att I can see 6. 4% Slippage in a 6th gear mash or 5. 5% on a incline not a mountain pull by anymeans... . Is that normal? I just sent my Edge in for the HOT upgrade and I am going to stack a "Crazy Larry" on top. Does my stock clutch have a prayer? How about my Turbo?
