On some trucks Dodge put a small wheel spacer on one side of the front axle to try to correct pull, or some kind of problem. Most people take these off with no ill effects. Has anyone tried using them on each side to space big tires (say a 315/75/16) away from the lower control arms?

I think I'll try it. So, If anyone has one (or more) they want to donate to the cause I would appreciate it.

That's awesome. :p Here's your cookie. :D I run 35/12. 50's and they do rub.

(fun intended, don't take it the wrong way)

I had the spacer in my 98. 5. I thnk it was there because the axle was kicked over to far. when I put the leveling kit in it was way over to one side. then bought the bracket for a 4'' kit to bring the axle back. took out the spacer and looked fine. look at your truck from the front. do the tires stick out the same on both sides?

No one has quite answered reduaram's question. The spacers will work to prevent rubbing I wouldn't add more than about 3/8'' of them for fear of breaking the studs. Don't know if that would be enough for you. Might have to go with rims with less set back but I'm sure you don't want to hear that.

I can definitely live w/ the rubbing. They hit the lip of the lower control arm, but only lose me about 1/4 turn of steering wheel turn. I thought about grinding down the lip and/or trying these spacers to see if I could make it a little better. If I went with bigger offset wheels, I think the tire would hit the back of the fender (which would be worse). Spacers may give me the tiny bit of extra neg. offset to clear the arms, without pushing the tires out so they hit the fender. I think I might have found a source.

I have a 1997 with BFG 295s mounted on 2001 alloys. I also have an adjustable DT track bar. I get a lower control arm rub on full lock left turn only. Since I have a 3. 5mm spacer on the right side, last night I removed the spacer. I got a slight rub on full lock right turn. Removing the spacer did not seem to affect pull (I have a slight "drift" to the right). It did not cause a brake pull, either. I'm with illflem, I think it can prevent a control arm rub. I just need to find another 3. 5mm spacer for the left side.

T-Bone
