Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) stock exhaust manifold probs??

i used to hear about how the 12v stock exhuast manifold was prone to shrinking and expanding and eventually cracking the head. is this true? getting ready to replace the turbo and it would be a good time to replace the manifold if it has the likely hood of breaking.

Occasionally the manifold will crack, it will not cause the head to crack.

If you are going to be making some heat, i would go to an ATS manifold. The flow design is much better than stock and will not shrink. We have cracked one though, but that extremely rare. If you are going to be replacing the turbo, it is a good time to do this also.
