2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Stock Foglights

Guys, how to the stock foglights mount?



I bought some 3" round driving lights today at Walmart for $20 and I'm planning on putting them in those spots. I figured for $20, it's worth a shot.



Do the foglights mount to the gray plastic??

The stock fog lights mount to the back side of the chrome part of the bumper. You have to remove the bumper or at least almost remove it so it can swing forward to access the mounting holes, best I can remember you also have to remove the grey cover from the lower part of bumper, if you go that route, be careful not to break the snaps on the grey plastic (like I did). I saw a gasser with fog lights in the holes and he mounted the brackets to the bumper braces. The factory lights come with different plastic inserts also. bg

I called the dealer to see about the kit and he's saying it's a no go. transmission cooler is in the way?

I have heard that story too. Don't know if there is a change in the early 98 trucks and mine, mine was built in Sept. 98. I tried to order the lights when I ordered the truck but they somehow got missed, I bought the kit and installed them myself. Both of my factory light broke when I went through a car wash with them wet so I had to replace them, I got the new ones from an auto parts place and mounted them in the factory brackets, if you are handy with tools you can probably make the ones you have work. The bolt holes are already in the bumper. bg

Yeah I haven't looked closely at a truck with the stock foglights, though they didn't seem to be anything specatular. I was figuring it would be a nice plug and play deal instead of me having to do a bit of work for these Walmart lights.

I belive i have the same lights you just purchased, i got mine at walmart aswell for $20. 00, im on my second set (rock busted one light out) they work really well for the price and really light up the road. for mounting i stuck them in the hole with some clear tape and went to my shop at night and got them both alligned properly and when i was happy with the light pattern i used a little hot glue and silicone on the back side to hold them in (very strong actualy, i was suprised when i swaped them out i actualy had to "TRY" to get them out), when it comes time to replace them it is a mater of poping them out (5 min. tops). putting new ones in, 2 wire conections, a little glue. Looks factory, takes 5 min. to swap them out, and only $20. 00!!!!!! vs. $200. 00+

Yeah I figured for $20 it's worth a shot. They seem to be halfway decent quality. I might go buy a 2nd set for spares even. Seem to be a good company. .

yep, those are them, i may even go but a few more pairs just for stock. lol, i got 8 months on the first set, im sure they would have lasted years but the gravel truck in lake tahoe (it was snowing) didnt let that happen. just my luck.
